BT farewell to the Boelyn- Rio Fernidand
I have just watched this for the second time and hve got to say, Rio doesn't feel like one of our own.
Perhaps it is just me, but I felt insulted by his "If t hadn't been for West Ham, I could not have been a Manc."
Like Martin Peters, Jermain Defoe, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard Jnr. And Scott Parker. You are not one of ours.
Not like Bobby Zamora will always be.
Don't ask for a rationale, because there is none. This is how I feel.

Rio is definitely one of our own.
We saw him play as a kid and become a man.
He never had a chance to stay because we were a selling club under Terry Brown.

The West Stan will always be the Rio Stand to me.

rio was of the post 93 class that tended to move elsewhere, especially given our fortunes. There's only one of that group that have remained West ham, and that's Joe Cole. Personally I'm very surprised they didnt give him the time to air his views, as he amongst all of them - Rio, Lampard, Defore, Carrick etc - has and always will be a West ham fan.

I can understand messy to an extent, every other player enthused about the club in its own right, Rio (in this interview) seemed to only regard it in what it did for his own career. He almost certainly didn't mean it to come out like that however.

Ferdinand isn't WHU..but so what.
No doubt he has fond memories of the club..bound to.
Wonder if Incey has an invite for next Tuesday?
He's WHU

As I said, It is purely personal, but I do not get the vibe off of Rio , that I get off off Trevor Sinclair, Alvin, Ashton or Zamora.
We have had a lot of good servamts to the club. All of that golden generation.
But they do not feel like Irons the way that Hurst, Moore, Bonds, Brooking, Dicks, Martin, DiCanio, Noble or Collins do. Jury is out on most off this squad. Time will tell.
But I hope we have the stuff of legends, right now.

Messey,

Get your point, and you're right on all the west ham player calls,

I'd include Matty Etherington and Harewood in the West ham bunch as well

Agree with you, Rio seems ingrained in Man U and it's almost like he never played for us.

Steady, there is a that Aftwr ManU disappoimtment, Rio went puton the East End (Commercial Road?) In his ManU tracksuit. I don't know the truth of the tale, but if it is true, then that is insulting.

Re: BT farewell to the Boelyn- Rio Fernidand
its all about what they feel like after leaving. Etherington is a great example, spent a great deal of his career at Spurs but considers himself a hammer.

Some will, some wont. The important thing is that the really important ones; Alvin, Dicksie, Bish, Bilic - even Wanchope (as i spoke to his best mate in Panama City two years ago and he told me) - etc that are not from the immediate area do consider themselves to be in the fold.
